Middleby CEO Selim Bassoul Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of
The Year® 2004
Elgin, Ill., June 11, 2004 – Selim Bassoul, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Middleby Corporation, is the recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2004 Award. The announcement was made on June 10 at a reception in Chicago.

am honored to be selected for this award from a field of the most outstanding
and respected businesspeople in the area,” said Mr. Bassoul. “Everyone at

For
the past 18 years Ernst & Young has recognized outstanding business leaders
across the U.S. Each year the finalists
and award recipients demonstrate incredible depth of character as they improve
the quality of life for people around them.
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2004 Awards honors the
most outstanding entrepreneurs. The
awards ceremony celebrated vision, leadership and achievement of a community of
entrepreneurs who are building and leading successful, growing business
ventures.
Mr.
Bassoul was selected to receive the award by a panel of judges comprised of
local community and business leaders.
Judge Laura Pearl told the attendees during an explanation of the
judging process that award selections were made from the largest and most
competitive field in the history of the Illionis event.
Mr.
Bassoul joined The Middleby Corporation in 1996 as President of the company’s
Southbend division. In 1999 he was
named Middleby’s chief operating officer and in 2000 he assumed the duties of
President and Chief Executive.
